New Etsy OOAK Hairpin

I've made a hairpin for a special friend's wedding, but thought I would post the image of it on etsy in the hopes of making other custom hairpins.
Enjoy!

It's been so diffucult finding a photographer who can capture exactly what I'm looking for and who can shoot new work as quickly as I produce it, so I've been photo-less for almost a year. Feeling the need to take charge of the situation, I've decided to experiment with taking my own photos to help me catch up with the constant stream of new work and to help me to visualize what I want to achieve in the presentation of my jewelry. I obviously have a lot to learn, but at the moment, I'm just glad to have images.

Velvet Da Vinci

I was recently invited to contribute work to an earring show at Velvet Da Vinci gallery in San Francisco. I made some pieces with enamel silver, gold and gems. They are very sculptural and regal looking with a fantastic presence so I named them after goddesses.

Jewels in paint

Since jewelry is a full time occupation I don't get to paint as often as I would like to. I like to think I make my paintings in a very jeweler-ly way and I make my jewelry in a painter-ly way.

Cufflinks

I made 15 new cufflink designs in all shapes, sizes and materials. Some are directly related to my regular catalog line and others are one of a kinds. It was really fun to come up with ideas to suit a new format. So often I am designing pieces for women, so it was interesting to think of pieces that a man might wear for a change.

New work

Here's a scan of some items I recently sent out to ALLOY, a gallery in Newport RI run by fellow RISD graduate Tamar Kern. For more info see http://www.alloygallery.com/
These are one of a kinds with fabulous enamels, a mix of older and newer pieces.

First day, July 20, 2007

My name is Amie Louise Plante.
I'm a jewelry artist by profession. I also teach and design for various companies. I sell work in in New England, New York and California.
I make gorgeous, luscious, organic forms. One of my greatest sources of inspiration is my garden. Another source of inspiration is the ocean, which I try to visit every day. I live right down the street from a lovely area called Stillhouse Cove on Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island and take all sorts of inspiration from what I find there. I also make work in other media and I'm always trying to develop those skills because I feel exploring a variety of creative avenues informs how I make my jewelry.
